It’s been 25 years since Microsoft last updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change. This is an incredibly exciting year for Microsoft as they prepare to release new versions of nearly all of our products. From Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 to Xbox services to the next version of Office, you will see a common look and feel across these products providing a familiar and seamless experience on PCs, phones, tablets and TVs. This wave of new releases is not only a reimagining of their most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so the logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning.

Restore Permanently Deleted Files From Any Media

Restoration

Hello readers, i have been thinking of writing on this topic for a while now but i just keep postponing it. But i guess today is the day. A friend of mine contacted me earlier today to tell me he had mistakenly deleted an important folder from his system and he was distraught. Thank God i was able to come to the rescue, who knows where he'll be now......pardon my digression.

YES!!! Files deleted from the recycle bin or permanently(by pressing Shift + Del) can be recovered. All you need is an utility software that performs this function. There are many softwares out there that do this but i personally use Restoration.

Computer Viruses Again!!

I guess I just have to keep emphasizing on this topic of computer viruses.
Computer viruses are everywhere! This guide will show you how to stay alert and how to avoid getting infections on your computer. Having an updated virus scanner is only a small part of this, there are many ways that you can prevent having viruses other than a virus scanner, as it will not always save you.

Types of viruses
There are many type of viruses. Typical viruses are simply programs or scripts that will do various damage to your computer, such as corrupting files, copying itself into files, slowly deleting all your hard drive etc. This depends on the virus. Most viruses also mail themselves to other people in the address book. This way they spread really fast and appear at others' inboxes as too many people still fall for these. Most viruses will try to convince you to open the attachment, but I have never got one that tricked me. In fact, I found myself emailing people just to make sure they really did send me something. It does not hurt to be safe.

Worms
Worms are different type of viruses, but the same idea, but they are usually designed to copy themselves a lot over a network and usually try to eat up as much bandwidth as possible by sending commands to servers to try to get in. The code red worm is a good example of this. This worm breaks in a security hole in Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server) in which is a badly coded http server that, despite the security risks, a lot of people use it. When the worm successfully gets in, it will try to go into other servers from there. When IceTeks was run on a dedicated server at my house, there was about 10 or so attempts per day, but because we ran Apache, the attempts did not do anything but waste bandwidth and not much as I had it fixed a special way. Some worms such as the SQL slammer will simply send themselves over and over so many times that they will clog up networks, and sometimes all of the internet. Worms usually affect servers more than home users, but again, this depends on what worm it is. It is suspected that most worms are efforts from the RIAA to try to stop piracy, so they try to clog up networks that could contain files. Unfortunately, the RIAA have the authority to do these damages and even if caught, nothing can be done.

Best Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Getting used to using your keyboard exclusively and leaving your mouse behind will make you much more efficient at performing any task on any Windows system. I use the following keyboard shortcuts every day:

Windows key + R = Run menu

This is usually followed by:
cmd = Command Prompt
iexplore + "web address" = Internet Explorer
compmgmt.msc = Computer Management
dhcpmgmt.msc = DHCP Management
dnsmgmt.msc = DNS Management
services.msc = Services
eventvwr = Event Viewer
dsa.msc = Active Directory Users and Computers
dssite.msc = Active Directory Sites and Services
Windows key + E = Explorer

Add A Url To Your Taskbar

Do you know that you can add an Internet URL address bar to your
Windows taskbar. Doing so will let you type in URLs and launch Web
pages without first launching a browser. It will also let you launch
some native Windows applications in much the same way as you would via
the Run menu (so you could type in calc to launch the calculator or
mspaint to launch Microsoft Paint.

Here's how you add the address bar:

1. Right-click on the taskbar, select Toolbars, and then click Address.

2. The word Address will appear on your taskbar.

3. Double click it to access it.

4. If that doesn't work, your taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by right-clicking on the taskbar again and uncheck Lock the Taskbar.

NOTE: You may also need to grab the vertical dotted lines beside the word Address and drag it to the left to make the Address window appear.

3 Ways To Customize Your FaceBook Group

Hello readers, most of us have facebook groups that we use to promote our products or as a sort of community for our niche, be it friends and family,e.t.c.
We have tried to make this group as unique as it can get to no avail, but here are the three major ways of customizing your facebook group to fit your taste.
  • Customize Your Facebook Group Banner

    The default mode for the image area in Facebook Groups is to present a flow of pictures from the Group. In most cases this is both impractical and visually unappealing. We’re going to fix that with a cool custom banner.
    Customize Your Facebook Group Banner by clicking the top right hand corner of that photo area and you should see a pop-up menu for uploading a photo. The best size for a custom Facebook Group banner is 800 x 200 pixels, and it’s better if you already make your banner exact to these measurements so that the Facebook image robot doesn’t crunch it to something ugly and weird. Yes, it does that believe me!

    Upload, and click the Save Changes -button.

    Your new banner image replaces all those little images that were fed into the picture area originally. Now, isn’t that so much better!
